Fire in you

“I love you because you have this fire in you that you don’t even recognize, but i do. You’re strong and you’re a survivor.”

I love a good friends to lovers story! this one didnt dissapoint and J Lynn once again proved that she is queen of angst and slow burning love novels.

Jillian – Has been in love with Brock since she was a small gal and has been pining over him for the last 7 years. Her existence for these last 7 years has been almost…robotic! She has a 9-5 job which she has no passion for and an obsession for hangbags.

Brock – Tried his hardest to see Jillian as a sister for most of his life as he didnt want to accept the fact that she was special to him… also, he was shit scared of her dad.

One horrible night led them apart and Brock has been trying to get back into Jillians life ever since. Jillian tries to ignore his sudden appearance in her life but is still tormented by her love for him and that fateful night that changed every thing.

The fire in you is the sixth book in J. Lynn’s “wait for you series” and doesn’t disspoint! I however can only give it 3/5 stars as it was good but not great. Lynn dabbled with the angst factor brilliantly in the beginning but it really died down half way through the book and I found myself skimming through from 70% and onwards. Fab chill down or holiday read. Pick this one up if you love romance and friends to lovers stories xx

Children of the Vice

“Sometimes you need to do bad to do good and worse to do even better”.

The story of Mani di forbice and Belladonna.

JJ McAvoy is a stupidly amazing writer and this book didn’t fail! Like its predecessors, this book will take you on a gruesome journey of crime, love and family!

I can just picture JJ with a smug grin on her face thinking… “Yáll thought I couldn’t do better than Melody and Liam? but I did….”
This book is a trilogy and focuses on the children of Liam and Melody Callahan, Ethan, Wyatt and Donatella. The first book is based on the eldest and the current Ceann na conairte… Ethan Callahan.

As an avid McAvoy reader and a Ruthless fan, I already knew that the Callahan clan were a crazy bunch! You’ll see glimpses of the older family members and see what has become of the Callahan children.

Now let me start off by saying that if you’re looking for a Liam and Melody story? you’re not going to get it. Its Chicago, there’s drugs, blood and treachery but it’s completely different.

“I shall show no mercy; I shall offer no forgiveness; there will be no peace for those who stand against me.”

Ethan Callahan is ruthless, sometimes heartless and always king! Well, what else would you expect from the firstborn of Liam and Melody? Everything he does or says has a purpose and family is always the first priority.  Now that he is 28, he wants to marry and he’s chosen a firecracker!
“I’ve found a wife—”
She’s not exactly Callahan material—and before you ask, I do not know her. She is a tool in a very important game, a tool I need you to secure without a doubt so she’ll be ready by my birthday.”
Ivy O Davoren is a vision in her orange prison overalls and matted blonde hair. Ivy has spent the last seven years in prison. The one thing keeping her sane is her thirst for vengeance on the Callahan family for killing her father. She is determined to avenge her father but her world is turned upside down when an unexpected visitor and she finds out who her father’s killer actually is.
“My pop always said poverty fucks with you… makes you think you can do things you really can’t and start selling your soul for things that are priceless.
This book was so OTT, hilarious and gruesome, I flipping loved it! I love that family was kept at the forefront and the romance was to die for ( I won’t go into any detail as I might spoil it)
The ending did leave me feeling particularly stabby… (Damn you and your palpation causing cliff hangers)
If you love fearless female protagonists and dirty mafia romances… this one is definitely for you.
“You’ll be expected to smile even though you want to scream and say everything is fine even when the sky is on fire… Because that’s what queens do. They make beauty look effortless and fear pointless.”

An epic love triangle between two powerful men and one very lucky girl. Written exquisitely

Greer  (girl next door, shy, well-educated, impressionable, trusting)
“Political princess”, is a very shy-timid-stand back and don’t get attention kind of girl. She did aggravate me in the beginning when she wouldn’t stand up to her snotty cousin Abilene. I mean grow a backbone! Her first kiss went to the president and her virginity went to the vice president, Not too shabby.

“The secret he keeps, the lies he tells.”

Maxen Ashley Colchester (Ash) – (Dominant, ruthless, deviant, enigmatic, heroic)
Is a Lieutenant, war hero and current president. Ash is a submissive girls dream! loves to be in control and takes pleasure in his partners’ submission and to some extent her embarrassment… oh no Bueno!
Not for me but definitely a well-written character.

“You belong to yourself and you belong to me, and I don’t fucking care that it seems to be a contradiction because we both know it isn’t.”

Embry Moore(Prince, secretive, seductive, aloof, reckless)
Comrade to Ash and vice president. I did do the whole, “you should pick Embry!” He is the typically polished bloke who hides scars that helped get him there. He’s very smooth and aloof and definitely my pick out of the two.

“You dropped this,” he said in that sophisticated purr, a purr that belied money and education and privilege. (EMBRY)

Despite being war veterans, this love will be the hardest battle they’ve faced yet… A well written and intriguing love triangle that’ll keep you interested all throughout.
